I purchased this product to have on hand as a replacement. It had not yet been installed. However, I noted that the charcoal filling in this particular filter was not as densely filled as it always had been in the past. In fact, I could read a paper through it! When I questioned its effectiveness, Filters Fast was unable to answer my question as that would have been a question for the manufacturers. I called them as well but they were unsure of the reason for the change. I will use the product and made my judgment after it's installed about whether or not I think it is just as effective as the older filter.
