Safeguard your HVAC system and enhance your indoor air quality with the 3M Filtrete air filters! Build for defense, these air filters stop airborne contaminants dead in their tracks while simultaneously allowing fresh air to flow through your system.
In addition to the MERV rating system, these filters are also graded by the MPR (Microparticle Performance Rating) system. This means that these filters are focused on removing particles anywhere from 0.3 to 1 microns. The higher the rating, the more effective the filter; and nuisances such as dust, mold, pollen, pet dander, and smoke will be removed.
Why do you need to change your 3M Filtrete Air Filters?
Changing your 3M Filtrete Air Filters regularly is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure clean air in your home. By replacing your air filters, you can improve indoor air quality and reduce the dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and other airborne particles invading your air.
If you choose to neglect your air filter, over time, all of these airborne particles start to collect and severely hinder its effectiveness. The airflow of your HVAC system will stagnate from the buildup, which will in turn cause it to use more energy and weigh on your pockets & the environment. You will also run a higher rate of system failure, requiring you to repair it.
It's recommended that you change your filters at least every 3 months. We understand that life makes it difficult to remember to do even the simplest task. That's why we created our Home Filter Club subscription program to quickly and easily deliver your air filters straight to your doorstep. Just sign up, choose your delivery option, and we have got the rest!
What kind of contaminants are in my household air?
Indoor air quality is a key factor in the health and comfort of your home. Unfortunately, many households are exposed to various contaminants that can cause health issues. Common household air contaminants include dust particles, pet dander, pollen, allergens, and smoke particles.
Airborne pollutants can cause a range of health issues, ranging from mild to severe. Inhaling these pollutants can lead to problems such as asthma, and allergies, and affect the quality of your sleep. It is important to take precautions when dealing with airborne pollutants to protect your health.
How do I find the correct air filter for my home?
Finding the right air filter for your home can be a challenging task. When selecting an air filter, there are several factors to consider such as filter size, the type of filter, and the MERV Ratings for the filter.
First, you must weigh the cost of using inexpensive filters such as fiberglass filters (remove link), or well-made pleated filters. Although you may save money upfront by going with a cheaper option, in the long run, you will end up spending more. A pleated filter is crafted with higher quality materials, meaning you will not need to replace it as frequently as a fiberglass filter; and, they are more efficient!
The size of the air filter also matters when choosing the best option for your home. If you have a standard-sized air conditioner or furnace unit, you should be able to find a compatible filter without too much trouble. However, if you have an older unit or one that is not standard-sized, finding a suitable replacement may require some research and measurement taking. Most filters have the size written somewhere on the side, which you can then take and find a suitable replacement.
Finally, MERV ratings indicate the effectiveness of the filter in trapping particles of different sizes. The higher the rating, the more efficient it is at trapping particles. It is important to choose a filter with an appropriate rating for your home needs. For residential applications, it is recommended to use MERV 8, MERV 11 or MERV 13.
